How to Transfer a Domain Name Away from QTH

If you are transferring your domain name away from QTH.com, the new domain registrar will likely require something called an EPP Key, or Transfer Authorization Code, which is sent via email to the Registrant email address, as listed in WHOIS records.  You may also need to Unlock your domain.

Below, you will find instructions for how to unlock your domain, verify/edit your Registrant email address and request the EPP/Transfer Code:

UNLOCK YOUR DOMAIN:

  1. Visit your Client Area page in our Billing System at https://hosting.qth.com/.
  2. Click Domains to view your domain names (towards the top of the Client Area screen)
  3. Click the wrench icon to the right of the domain you wish to manage.
  4. Click Registrar Lock on the LEFT side menu.
  5. Click Disable Registrar Lock to unlock the domain.

VERIFY / EDIT REGISTRANT EMAIL ADDRESS, AS LISTED IN WHOIS:

  1. Visit your Client Area page in our Billing System at https://hosting.qth.com/.
  2. Click Domains to view your domain names (towards the top of the Client Area screen)
  3. Click the wrench icon to the right of the domain you wish to manage.
  4. Click Contact Information on the LEFT side menu.
  5. Review the email address in the Registrant and Administrative Contact areas.  Change, if necessary, then click Save Changes. PLEASE NOTE that if you make any changes to the Registrant or Administrative Contacts, that, per ICANN regulations, a temporary 60 day Transfer Lock may be initiated. This is for your protection, to prevent anyone breaking into your account from changing the ownership of your domain and then transferring the domain away from your control. Some TLDs may allow you to override/opt-out of this lock -- if so, you will be presented with the option to opt-out when you proceed with the change.

REQUEST THE EPP KEY / TRANSFER AUTHORIZATION CODE:

  1. Visit your Client Area page in our Billing System at https://hosting.qth.com/.
  2. Click Domains to view your domain names (towards the top of the Client Area screen)
  3. Click the wrench icon to the right of the domain you wish to manage.
  4. Click Get EPP Code on the LEFT side menu and the code will be instantly sent to the Registrant email address for your domain, as listed in WHOIS.

Before you move your domain, please let us know if there is anything we could do to continue to earn your business! We would be sad to see you go, especially if we have not had an opportunity to discuss it with you. Please use the Contact Form or open a Support Ticket and let's talk about it.
