Logging in to your account

Having trouble logging in to your account?  Username doesn't work?  Email address isn't working?  If you can not log into your account, it's possible you're using the wrong credentials or are trying to log in to the wrong area. Please find what you are trying to log in to below for more information on the correct username and password to use.

Billing & Support Portal

Our billing and support portal is found at hosting.qth.com. If you want to see your billing account, review invoices, pay invoices, or view/open a support ticket.  You also use this site to purchase or upgrade services, edit the name servers on your domains, and to get one-click access into your cPanel hosting accounts.

Login URL:  https://hosting.qth.com/login

Username:  Your primary billing email address (where your invoices, notifications, and confirmations are sent)

Password:  You set this when you placed your first order.  There is a "Forgot Password?" button if you need to reset it.

cPanel Hosting Control Panel

Your cPanel hosting account control panel is how you manage your hosting account.  This control panel allows you to manage your mailboxes, email forwarders, FTP accounts, and the domains associated with your account.  You can use the cPanel File Manager to view, delete, and upload files to your account as well.

Login URL:  https://yourdomain.com/cpanel

Username:  Emailed to you with subject "QTH.com :: yourdomain.com Web Hosting Instructions" when you ordered hosting.  It's NOT an email address, but rather a short alphabetical username, typically the first eight or so letters of your hosting's primary domain name.

Password:  Your password is also included in the same email mentioned above for the username.

Important, if you click "Reset Password" on the cPanel login screen, you may be shown an email "hint" that you do not recognize.  This is a "feature" of cPanel to confuse or throw off would-be password guessers from the correct email address.  The email address you use here should be the email address you signed up for your hosting account with.  If it's not working, remember you can log into the Billing & Support Portal, click on "Services", then "Manage" next to your hosting account, and finally the "Log in to cPanel" link in the left menu.  This will log you directly into your cPanel account.

Webmail - Online Email Access

If you have an email account set up in your cPanel hosting account, you can access your email directly using our Webmail website.

Login URL:  https://yourdomain.com/webmail

Username:  Your full email address.  E.g., example@yourdomain.com

Password:  Your email password, which is the password you assigned when you created the email account in cPanel under "Email Accounts".

Important, if you do not remember or need to reset your email address password, we highly recommend you do so directly in cPanel.  Do not use the "Reset Password" link on the Webmail login screen.  See above for instructions for directly logging into cPanel.

WordPress Admin

If you have a WordPress website, the administrative area of your website has a special admin area of its own.

Login URL:  https://yourdomain.com/wp-admin

Username:  Your WordPress admin username was set at the time of installing WordPress.  If another admin created you an account, you received an email notifying you of your username.

Password:  Your WordPress admin password was set when you installed WordPress.  If another admin created your an account, you set your password using a link in an email you received.

Helpful Tip:  If you installed WordPress via the WordPress Manager by Softaculous, you can also take advantage of their one-click login feature.  Simply log in to your cPanel account (see above), click on the "WordPress Manager by Softaculous" link in the left sidebar.  Here, you'll see a login button next to your WordPress installation.  If you did not use Softaculous to install your WordPress website, you can still visit the "WordPress Manager by Softaculous" link and select "Scan" to find your website.  After scanning and finding the WP instance, return to the overview screen to find the login button.

SFTP (FTP over SSH)

This is the preferred method of connecting your FTP or web publishing software to your hosting account. When using SFTP (not to be confused with FTP or FTPS), you want to use your cPanel credentials.  You cannot use FTP Accounts created in cPanel to connect over SSH, only the cPanel credentials will work.

SFTP Hostname:  ftp.yourdomain.com

Username:  Emailed to you with subject "QTH.com :: yourdomain.com Web Hosting Instructions" when you ordered hosting.  It's NOT an email address, but rather a short alphabetical username, typically the first eight or so letters of your hosting's primary domain name.  Important, usernames are case-sensitive!

Password:  Your password is also included in the same email mentioned above for the username.

FTP or FTPS (FTP over SSL)

If you create an FTP user account in cPanel, you will need to connect to your site via FTP or FTPS (not to be confused with SFTP).  If you must use FTP accounts, we highly recommend using FTPS so your password is not sent over plain text, subject to hacking.  You can use your cPanel username and password over FTP or FTPS, however it's highly discouraged.  If you want to use your cPanel username and password, please see above for using SFTP.

SFTP Hostname:  ftp.yourdomain.com

Username:  The username defined under FTP Accounts in cPanel.  It will take the form of an email, such as ftpusername@yourdomain.comImportant, usernames are case-sensitive!

Password:  The password you defined when creating the FTP account in cPanel.

Reminder:  Make sure to enable PASSIVE (sometimes called PASV) mode.  If you don't, you may be able to connect, but you cannot upload files.

Connection Refused

If at any point you start receiving connection refused, your website stops loading, or other similar errors, there's a good chance your IP address has been blocked by our firewall.  There are protective measures put into place to protect your account from brute force attacks, and when you're trying unsuccessfully to log in repeatedly, it looks like you're attempting a brute force attack yourself.  If this happens, log into our Billing & Support Portal (see above) and then visit this page: https://hosting.qth.com/support.php.  Click on the "Unblock IP Address" button to see if you're currently being blocked.  If that doesn't work, and you're still in need of help, click on "Help Desk Ticket" found at the same link.
