Before You Cancel: Check Your DNS First

Thinking about canceling your hosting? Before you do, there is one thing worth checking so your website and email do not accidentally go offline.

Even after you move to a new provider, your domain may still be pointing to our servers for DNS, which is the system that tells the internet where to find your website and email. A new developer will often move your website over but leave DNS with us. If that is the case and the account is canceled, your site and email can suddenly stop working, even though everything looked fine the day before.

The fix is simple: before you cancel, ask your new web developer or host to confirm that your domain's name servers and all DNS records, including email, have been fully moved to your new provider.

If you have questions or want us to confirm what is still pointing to our servers, open a support ticket and we will be glad to help. When everything is confirmed moved, just let us know and we will process your cancellation.
